Our Business is Gearing up for Launch. Would you like to Join?

Hello everyone & I hope you are enjoying your day.  I have some exciting news!!

Sunshine Stamp Co. is gearing for Launch!!

We would like to send out a call for doodlers, designers, hand-letterers (is that a word), bible journalers, planner fanatics, and everyone else.  Currently, what we are looking for are physical and digital doodles and designs that can be used made into clear stamps for bible journaling and planners.  We are also looking for alphabets.

These designs will be created into clear photo-polymer stamp sets.  We are not asking for any specifics because we want people to have room for creativity and showing their own personal style.

We will be planning the next several months of releases, which will occur once a month.  Each month a few stamp sets will be released.  At the moment we are focusing on stamps, and will be looking into stickers and coordinating kits in in the future.

Please pray about whether you should send a sample of your artwork in.  We will be praying over the responses and how God would lead this small business startup.  I greatly appreciate all the kind people in our community who have helped me a long the way and have answered my many questions!

Please e-mail the following to xolittleone@gmail.com

  • Your name.
  • Links to blog/social media accounts where you share your work.
  • Your favorite way to express creativity (bible journaling, planning, doodling, handwriting, etc.)
  • Attach a few pictures that show your personal style.  (Please attach .jpg's that are 1000 pixels or less wide).
  • Any current design teams or contracts/licensing.
  • A few sentences about yourself.

All submissions should be in at midnight (EST) by November 20th, 2015. Everyone will receive a response by November 30th, 2015.  Thank you all!  Please share this on your social media accounts.  Especially for those you know who have a special talent for creativity and art worship.

Thank you all who apply and we cannot wait to get started going over all your applications!

Blessings!!

Watercolor Worship

Two new pieces I have been working on.  My main focus has been to doodle black and white images, but I've been dying to use the Artist's Loft cheap-ie tray of pan watercolors I got. You know.... the one everyone is using.  So I had some extra fun and water-colored both doodles.  May be using these for stamps in the future.  Anyways.  Give me a thumbs up, or share if you like :)

City On a Hill SOLD!

I have never created with the intent of selling my work but I was invited to show two pieces at Brush Strokes Gallery.  I went through my stash and picked two that I liked (City and Prince of Peace).  City sold!  I was so excited when I heard.  They called and asked me to bring another piece for its spot.  I grabbed the cross off my wall and hung it at the gallery.  This was so super exciting for me because I have never felt like I'm good enough to even be in a gallery let alone sell one of my pieces.  God is good!  I also got comments on sharing my faith in my work, which was very uplifting.

The piece that sold:

of course I had it framed, but I never got a picture of it in the gallery.

Summer Fun

This page is super cute.  I love it.  I used a tutorial from The Scarlet Lime.  The paper is from Heidi Swapp's Hello Today collection and the rub-ons are from Any Tangerine.  Love! <3

His Great Love

This one was pretty fun.  I started off by gluing pieced of pattern paper down, then hearts cut out of book pages.  Paint, paint, and more paint. I did the "His Love" with acrylic paint and my finger, then mixed a little with water and dripped it down the letters.  I used a painters pen to do the writing, edging, and outlining.  The text I used are song lyrics to an awesome song.

Love

Hello!  I'm back with another process in pictures post.  This one is one of my favorites because of the pretty colors and grunge look.  I started by laying down torn book pages using matt medium.

I set chipboard letters on my page and sprayed over them with "berry" alcohol ink.  I added black acrylic paint to the right edge and dry brushed over the rest of the page to make the book page edges stand out.

I made puddles of blue alcohol ink, made splatters by hitting my paint brush in it, and added some on other places on the page to make some purple.  I prayed a piece of burlap with "butterscotch" alcohol ink and adhered it with matte medium.  I went over the black on the page with sandpaper to give it more of a grudge look.

I added a peice of washi, random clump of thread, and a button.  I wish I wouldn't have but I added gold acrylic to the burlap.  I also added some more black acrylic to the washi.

I added butterflies with a stencil and StaZon metallic silver ink.  The circles are a stamp that I made.  I also added unreadable writing stamp with blue StaZon.  I went around the edges of the letter and butterflies with a super fine painters pen.

I added gesso over the entire page with a card and added a black stamp to the top butterfly.  I went around all the edges with the painters pen, smearing as I went.  The smaller letters are stamps that I went over again with the painters pen.

I hope you enjoyed this post :)  Leave a comment!!!

Be Bold

This page was super fun and super super messy!!  I started by sharpening gold, pink/red, and orange crayons.  The first layer is gelatos (gold, blue, orange, and pink).  I made a cylinder out of paper, put a pile of crayon shavings inside, and used my heat tool to melt the wax.  You could probably use a chunk of a crayon as well, or a wax warmer.  After it was a puddle I tilted my page different ways.  Most of the wax is in the top left hand corner, but there is some gold coming from the bottom left corner as well.  I added the chevron stencil, writing stamp, carved into the wax with a fork, went over the "Be" with a painters pen, and stamped the "be you" at the bottom.  The silhouette is a magazine cutout.  I gesso'ed her first then applied acrylics.  I used a metallic jellyroll pen to add detail to the hair and fly-aways.

Thanks for stopping by!

Greater Is He

I added some cheesecloth, mailing labels, used stamps, circle punches, and a magazine cutout to this one. I used metallic rub on for most of the color with some stamping ink. The song lyrics are from Mercy Me's "Greater."  Love this song!  If you haven't heard it, you should definitely give it a listen.  On a side note, another song I am obsessed with, and will probably be in one of my pages in the near future, is Hillsong United: "Oceans." Anyways, hope you enjoy!

Some of My First

These are some of my first art journaling pages before I got my mixed media book.  I was going to punch wholes in them and use rings to make a book, but now I think I may just hang some of them up.

Fill My Cup

This started out with a card I received for my baptism in 2012.  I pasted the ripped pieces down and added an iron on transfer.  I did not iron, but pasted it down with modge podge.  There are also some pieces of vintage ticket washi tape.  I added a thin layer of gesso over the entire page.  I used transparent metallic acrylic paint in gold and purplish blue.  I outlined the cross-stitch design and other parts with a micro pen, and the big text with a painters pen.  I sprayed the flowers and added glitter glue.  I glued down the metal pieces coming out of the cup and then added glitter glue, which I smeared around with a paint brush.  I added glitter glue in other areas and added color with jellyroll metallic pens.

Thanks for checking out my page.  I hope you liked it, and I love reading comments! :)

Be Intentional Today

This is my first blog post on my art journaling.  I took pictures throughout the process so that I could make this post showing what I used and how.  I found a free book at the library about raising adolescent children, and since I have two young girls I decided to use it in my creative process.  I modge podged all of the ripped book pages down.  I then spread gesso all over the page.  I used a diamond stencil to help create the kite.

I used gelatos for the background because they are transparent.  I put down the red first, then orange around the red, and yellow everywhere else.  I left the kite alone.

Using a stencil and baby wipe, I wiped off some of the gelatos.  After this step I added modge podge over the entire page to keep the gelatos in place.  I had to add a pretty thick layer so that they wouldn't smear with my brush.

Using a stencil and "Bleu Turquoise" acrylic paint I added the blue swirls randomly, again leaving the kite alone.

I used H2O's shimmer watercolor to paint the kite.  The dragonflies were made with a stencil, a make-up sponge, and StaZon Jet black ink (my favorite ink ever).  I added two pieced of ephemera from the Maggie Holmes ephemera packs after distressing the edges.  I added gelatos around the edges of the camera to smear them in.

I painted strips of book pages and cut them out with an xacto knife.  After adding them I added shading to the bottom of them.

This is the final product.  I am happy with everything except the writing on the kite strings.  I either need to change from using modge podge or find a good pen to use for writing.  I went around the tree branch and edges of the page with a charcoal pencil.

I hope you enjoyed this process post.  Please leave me comments!! :)

City On A Hill

This is one of my favorite!  I almost always start off having no idea what I'm going to be making.  I layered down dark blue and craft cut up card stock from Heidi Swap's "Hello Today" 12x12 paper pad.  I absolutely love the entire paper pad.  In person you can see some of the flowers and arrows showing through.  I applied gesso to the entire page.  I used spray ink: pink, yellow, and brown.  Heavy charcoal around all the edges with white distress ink on the building edges first.  Let me know if this is confusing!  lol.  Yellow acrylic paint for the windows, outline in black pen. I added some color with jellyroll metallic pens.  The stars were created with a stamp, embossing ink, and tinsel embossing powder.

The message comes from Matthew 5:14.
